Swartland Winery wins prestigious awards

The Awards season is looking good for Swartland Winery. Notching up awards locally at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show (OMTWS) the wines have seen similar accolades at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) in the UK.

It is a great year for reds with Pinotage gaining in popularity at home and abroad – Indalo Pinotage 2007 achieved a silver medal at both shows.

The Swartland region is known for its lush, fruity reds and excellent ports so it was no surprise that both shows recognised these attributes.  The OMTWS awarded a silver medal for Indalo Shiraz 2007 and Swartland Vintage Port 2006. On the lighter side Swartland Blanc de Noir 2010 also achieved silver medal status.  A bronze medal was awarded to Swartland Pinotage 2009. The IWC awarded silver medals to Indalo Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 and Eagles Crest Chenin - Chardonnay - Viognier 2009. Indalo Shiraz 2007 achieved a Bronze medal whilst Swartland Vintage Port 2006 was commended

Swartland Winery’s signature range is once again up with the best, yet again underscoring the value and quality of that particular range.

The International Wine Challenge, held at the London International Wine Fair,  is the world’s most prestigious and influential independent wine competition and with a record number of 46 wine producing countries entering this year’s Challenge, the competition enjoyed a 15% increase in entries year on year with standards higher than ever.

Achieving an Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show medal is considered a significant accolade by the local wine industry thanks to the intense scrutiny that each wine entry is subjected to. A silver medal signifies an excellent wine of distinction. A Bronze medal underlines a good to very good wine of fine character.
